Abstract: Dr. Berkowitz grew up in New York City and received his
undergraduate degree in sociology from New York University.  He
served in the U.S. Air Force and then received his PhD in 1951 from
the University of Michigan. He discussed his research into
situational influences on aggressive behavior including the influence
of watching violent actions on TV or in films.  His research was
conducted using laboratory experiments and field interviews with
violent offenders
